Imagine a world where we actually applied our existing knowledge about women’s health?

Yes — we absolutely need more innovation in women’s health (more research, more more answers, more options) —but why aren’t we using what we already know?

Why aren’t existing clinical guidelines, research and solutions in women’s health systematically integrated into women’s healthcare journeys to improve the health outcomes and quality of life of women today?

What if we leveraged that knowledge to map out where gaps in treatment and care are? What if we targeted innovation in women’s health specifically at those gaps: both in female-specific conditions (Endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD ...) and differently-presenting conditions (Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Lung Cancer …)

What if we leveraged our knowledge of women’s healthcare today to innovate, shape and create the women’s healthcare of tomorrow?

Why should you care about The Gender Data Health Gap?

TL;DR The gender data gap is turbocharged by AI — AI learns from the data it’s trained on therefore if women are ‘invisible’ or misrepresented in that data (as they currently are in healthcare data), this can have lethal consequences.

Join Us To Redesign Healthcare With Women In Mind:

Kearney and FemTechnology in partnership with the World Economic Forum’s Global Alliance for Women’s Health launched an Open Letter for change at Davos earlier this year to redesign healthcare with women in mind, with 50+ signatories spanning the entire healthcare value chain.

In May, a global multi-stakeholder community with the aim to move the dial on women’s health by developing industry frameworks to baseline and track progress, sharing insights, co-creating of solutions and driving policy change is launching.

Last week, we had the delight of speaking to the Women’s Health Catalyst of which we are on the advisory board at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University.
Some of the incredible women’s health innovators we’d like to shine a spotlight on are:

Luba Perry - spinning out ReConstruct: creating living tissue implants assembled from a patient’s own cells and integrated into the body for more natural breast reconstruction and augmentation with fewer health risks.

Ola Gutzeit - improving fertility & finding causes for unexplained infertility with Organ Chips (with a specific focus on how the vaginal microbiome affects sperm function in female reproductive tract models).

Aakanksha Gulati — using the Vagina Chip to test new and existing treatments for Bacterial Vaginosis, identifying effective therapies that can be advanced into clinical trials, Sandy Elmehrath — ground-breaking endometriosis work, Haleh Fotowat — understanding the neural basis for chronic fatigue syndrome & more!

At the US Chamber of Commerce the fabulous Stephanie Sassman (Portfolio Leader Women’s Health, Genentech) and Michael Annichine (CEO, Magee-Womens Research Institute) shared insights from the FemTechnology Women Centric Cancer Report On How Employers Can Make Women Centric Cancer Care A Reality:
